About us

Throughout the summer and autumn of 2005 Research and Marketing Ltd conducted an extensive visitor survey on behalf of Capital Regional Tourism.

The research was conducted on behalf of a consortium including; Visit Wales, Capital Region Tourism, Brecon Beacons National Park, Adventa and nine unitary authorities.

The research survey consisted of structured face-to-face interviews with visitors to 26 pre-selected visitor attractions. These locations were selected by the client group in order to cover all of the unitary authorities, throughout the South East Wales region. The locations were divided into three regions Brecon, Main and Monmouthshire and then into specific locations within each after that.

The target population for the survey was those people over 18 years of age who were either on a day trip and out for at least 3 hours, on holiday in South East Wales and staying away from home or on a non-routine business trip in the area. Those who lived within a 15 mile radius of the interview location, those on routine business, those who were conducting shopping and those in the area for personal business were excluded from the survey.

Millenium Centre

Interviews were conducted by IQCS trained interviewers positioned at the exits who were briefed to approach those respondents who were in each location either as a person who had just left the attraction or as a passer by in those that were general locations. Interviews took place throughout the week and at the weekends at each visitor site.

A total of 4801 interviews were successfully completed during the field work period with considerable variation between the interviewing sites.
